REVIEW - Barrayer

Barrayar is part of the Miles Vorkosigan saga, or some other series title that I can't think of, so I'll go with it.  It follows directly after Shards of Honor, and can be found in the omnibus of Cordelia's Honor.  This book is about the beginning of Cordelia and Aral Vorkosigan's marriage.  Vorkosigan has just been named the regent for the prince.

So he's all busy with politics and stuff, and Cordelia is busy being pregnant.  They also spend a lot of time trying not to get killed, which is always fun.  The book ends with the birth of Miles.  No, that's not really a spoiler, since the other books in the series are all about Miles.  You kinda figure he gets born at some point.

This book started off pretty slow.  I had a hard time being motivated to pick it up.  But then it got really good and actiony, and I had a hard time putting it down.  I'm excited to read the rest of the series, but I want more Cordelia, I'm not sure how much I care about Miles right now.  I have a feeling Cordelia and Aral pretty much disappear after this, and may never be heard from again.  Bummer.

This is the kind of science fiction I like, where the character development is really there, and it's not so technical and all about the science.  I would rate this book 4/5, and would definitely recommend it if you like science fiction.
